Behaviour Counselling
Every year, countless pets are re-homed or put to sleep (euthanized) because of inappropriate behaviour. Some of the more common behaviours that challenge pet parents include inappropriate urination and/or defecation in the house, injury or destruction of property due to separation anxiety, incessant vocalization, noise phobias and aggression. Our doctors and veterinary team members are knowledgeable and experienced in dealing with many of these problems. We also have access to numerous resources including the veterinary literature and specialists trained in pet behaviour. We employ positive reinforcement training and counter-conditioning techniques and sometimes even medications as part of your pet's behaviour treatment plan.
We encourage you to talk to us about your pet's unsuitable behaviour at its onset. The sooner a problem behaviour is addressed, the greater the success rate in resolving it. In addition, starting puppies and kittens off with the right training from a young age is very beneficial to their future well-being.
